I decided to change my cover photo to this view
of the Milky Way rising over Mt. Shasta.

This was my first attempt at a panoramic view
that would show the Milky Way appearing like an arch.

The band of the Milky Way is actually linear since it is a flat spiral
and we lie in near the central plane and so when we look out
we notice how there are many more stars in that same plane
that we are in.

In order to display this view that is about 180 degrees wide,
the result looks curved. Hope you enjoy the view.

Edit: Facebook decided this was meant to be a panorama
that you can pan around in.

Be sure to look to both sides.

It isn't a 360 degree view so you can't look up and down.

I'll post a non "360'd" version as a comment.
