    The Wayeb Process
described by Carlos Barrios and Adriana Rojas - February 17, 2012

    Background

The Haab calendar is one of the twenty Mayan calendars,
the calendar most often referred to by conventional scientists
because it is a 365 solar year calendar, but typically not discussed
by Western new ager’s because it’s sacred significance was not understood
    until recently.

The Maya refer to it as the AB ' calendar
and is composed of 18 months of 20 days each.

Each month has a name that indicates the energy
and expertise of both its individual and total,

ie., within the overall incidence of days or spaces in the Nakht (space - time).

The AB 'indicates the solstices, equinoxes, the seasons,
the movements of Mother Earth and how these influence us.

In and of its self, it is a practical guide to travel and live in harmony
    with creation.

These 18 months or WINAK or WINAL (groups of 20 days)
make a total of 360 days and are accompanied by a month of 5 days
    called Wayeb.

The Wayeb period of the Haab calendar takes place over a period
of 5 days preceding the month known as POP
which is the beginning of the Haab year (AB )'.

In 2015, the Wayeb on the Gregorian calendar begins
    on March 28 (13 Q'anil / SEED) through April 2 (2 E /ROAD),
the same day that the Year Bearer (also known as the Cargador or Year Carrier) changes.

    This year's carrier is 4 E / ROAD.

Note that on the first day of the Mayan New Year E / ROAD
presents on both the Mayan Chol’ij and the Haab cycles.

For those that have ROAD energy as their Day Sign or in their Mayan Cross,
the Road, or the Path, will be influencing you heavily
    during the upcoming solar year.

Have fun, travel safely, learn a new language, live abroad,
marry a "foreigner" and, most of all, stay true to your path.

    The Wayeb Process

The Wayeb period of five days allows us to prepare physically,
mentally and spiritually to receive the energies in full
for the new year and the energies of the new carrier
as characterized by the Year Bearer (Cargador).

Since these dates are not relevant to the Western world,
it may be necessary to adapt the lifestyle in order to fall
into the new sequence and experience the new meaning.

It is recommended to take a moment during each of the 5 days of Wayeb,
to get into its steps or precepts.

The Wayeb is considered a transition period,
but often misconstrued by those in the West as the dead days,
the dark days, or days lost.

For the traditional Mayan world, is a time of abstraction, introspection,
reflection, meeting with our inner being.

When the space-time can be with us, we can review our life
and purpose of our existence in which we project our destiny.

Wayeb is a period of resurgence.

The review during the Wayeb leads us to recognize our actions
and what they have created for us both positively and negatively.

What has happened to us both via our intervention,
and the events that arose through these intentions, or lack of intention.

According to Don Ramon Carabaes (wise traditionalist thinker and Maya)
each days of the Wayeb focuses on different aspects
of the introspection process and broken down as follows:

    REVIEW

    RECOGNION

    ACCEPTANCE

    DEFINITION

    PROJECT

Getting into Wayeb consciousness is a work of awareness.

It is necessary to have the poise to find ourselves.

We are not going to lie to anyone, to give explanations or excuses,
because we are face to face with ourselves .

The purpose is to review and to make a projection to determine
what we want in life and what we are doing that is useless,
and make decisions to reconfigure ourselves.

In ancient times during the Wayeb,
our ancestors retreated to a cave or locked themselves up
inside their homes, literally stone and mud.

    We were isolated from everything.

This process could be done alone or with family,
but everyone would be in their personal process and silent.

They would eat very little, especially something light,
like our cornwater drink, or just fast.

    REVIEW

The first day is to do a life review of who we are, whether we agree with it ...
you can record the events that have happened.

If last year we did a projection of what was accomplished ,
what was not, and what the influencing factors were,
this year we can see what will come in handy going forward and that which does not.

    RECOGNITION

We dedicate this day to recognize and to realize who we really are.

We must have the courage to confront and go to the deepest part
of ourselves and define ourselves as well.

Like it or not what we are, it is important to be clear.

    ACCEPTANCE

This day is dedicated to self-acceptance.

What you have arrived at, after the review, is recognized.

We are clear about what and who we are, we must accept it, going point-by-point,
at this point in our lives.

The recounting of this presence is the most important
and if we go into much detail, all the better.

This is less about making a judgment, but rather being honest,
accountable and able to accept our state at this time.

    DEFINITION

This day seems easy, because it just definition after the end of the conscious processes of the Review, the Recognition and the Acceptance.

However, it is as difficult as trying to determine what we really are
and what we need to eliminate from our lives. Clarity is the key word here.

To set clear objectives that take us where we want to go during our lives ...
to make determinations on what we expect from this ...
and if you want it to be significant or whether we are content with what we have ... this is how we define the continuity give our lives.

    THE PROJECT

It has also been called REVIVAL or RENEWAL.

This day is where we make the determinations for the new cycle
beginning or the new way of life we have outlined.

This is profound work, by knowing our capabilities and limitations,
we can make the projection of our future.

It's a resurgence, and having worked in the previous phases
allows us to have more clarity to project.

It is a renewal, the process of internalized recapitulation
enabling one to carry out an honest and conscientious intention,
    or set of intentions.

The last cycle brings forth holistic and meaningful renewal throughout life.

Take into account that Western culture is not accustomed
to a discipline of this nature, often never made such an approach,
    let alone this outline.

This is a time to be in harmony with ourselves,
with Mother Earth with other living things, including humans.

Is a space to enjoy the calm, quiet and delve seek the Universal Heart,
to be able to perceive the creation and be part of the immensity of the Cosmos.

It is important to seek the essence of KAK ALOM the Heart of Mother Earth,
it is time to return to BEING HUMAN.

The question that each Wayeb brings is
“What is your fullest expression and how do you intend to fulfill it?”

    WAYEB
Wayeb is the 5-day period at the end of the 365 day Haab solar year calendar.

It has been known as "the lost days" or "time out of time" by Westerners, and is recognized
with respect and reflection throughout the Maya-lands of Guatemala.

This is the time where the Maya stay inside their homes, near their altars to contemplate
their past years actions and formulate intentions for the upcoming year.

Wayeb- 2013 was the first major Maya event to take place in the New Era.

Wayeb fell on Feb 17-25. Spirit moved me to create a Wayeb healing platform
which became a virtual, global, free program.

I was touched by the caliber of over 1200 participants who participated,

people who had done plenty of personal work before, yet so willing to explore and heal another layer.

The Youtubes (below) capture this 5 day process and a 6th wrap-up call. Carlos Barrios joined us on Day 4,
speaking to the importance of Wayeb at this time in the new era.

He also told us that many elders in Guatmala are in agreement that the energies of 2013
warrant a shift to Gran Wayeb, extending the Wayeb by an additional 13 days
and making the beginning of the new year 1.Bird (Tz'kin) instead of 1.Wind (Iq).

These shifts technically happen every 52 years., a calendar "round" of the Haab calendar.

Consensus among all elders will take time and effort, but the seed has been planted.

My guess is that a decision will be made once we can look back at what transpires in 2013.

Is it a year influenced by Wind or the Bird (Eagle)? Time tells.
