    COMET LEONARD . . .

    In early January 2022
this comet might become visible to the naked eye.

"The icy ball has come a long way to make
    this pre-Christmas appearance to us.

About 35,000 years ago, the comet was at the far end
    of its elongated elliptical orbit
    — aphelion
    — some 3,500 astronomical units from the sun.

One astronomical unit (AU) is the equivalent
of the Earth's average distance from the sun:
    92,955,807 miles (149,565,894 kilometers)."
    (source:
    https://www.space.com/comet-leonard-shines-in-december-sky)

    "COMET LEONARD APPROACHES EARTH:
The brightest comet of the year is approaching Earth.

On Dec. 12, 2021, Comet Leonard (C/2021 A1) will be
just 35 million kilometers away and could be visible
to the naked eye in the early morning sky.

"Below is my first capture of Comet Leonard,"
reports Darrell Spangler of Estes Park, Colorado.
"It was much brighter than I expected."

Spangler photographed the comet on Nov. 30th, 2021
using a 2.4 inch Raptor Radian telescope
and a Canon 5Ds digital camera.

"It was an easy target," he says.

Right now, Comet Leonard is in the northern constellation
Canes Venatici (the Hunting Dogs) shining like a fuzzy star
    of magnitude +7.

During the 10 days, the comet's brightness will sharply increase.

Most forecasters agree that Comet Leonard will reach magnitude +4,
easy to see in small telescopes and visible to the naked eye
from dark-sky sites during the second week of December, 2021.

As the comet approaches the sun in early January, 2022
forward scattering of sunlight through the comet's dusty atmosphere
could create an additional surge in brightness to magnitude +1.

The same phenomenon worked on Comet McNaught in 2007,
making it visible in broad daylight.

Stay tuned for updates as Comet Leonard draws near." (Source: www.spaceweather.com)

    COMET LEONARD UPDATE:
Since this week began, Comet Leonard (C/2021 A1) has nearly tripled in brightness
as it approaches Earth for a relatively close encounter (35 million km) on Dec. 12th, 2021

Yesterday, Michael Jaeger photographed the approaching comet from Turmkogel, Austria.

Prepare to scroll because the comet's tail is more than 4 degrees long:

"It has been stormy, so I had to drive many kilometers to find a break in the clouds," says Jaeger.

"This picture was also taken at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level
with minus 6 degrees temperature, strong wind and snowy air."

He forgot to mention, it was about 4 o'clock in the morning!

That's when you have to wake up to find the comet.

Comet Leonard is currently in the constellation Serpens diving toward the morning sun.

The early hour and decreasing altitude of the comet can make it a challenge to photograph.

    Nevertheless, it's worth a try.

Comet Leonard is now shining like a fuzzy star of 5th magnitude
--technically bright enough to see with the naked eye from dark-sky sites
and an easy target for small telescopes and cameras.

    C/1 2021 A1 LEONARD
Take note, in less than 3 days comet Leonard is flying by VENUS.
On December 19, 2021 our sister planet will be enveloped in the comet's tail,
an unprecedented event, likely treating us earthlings with a very special display.
A once in a lifetime experience.
Tiny sparkles around Venus - meteorites and shooting stars.
In celebration of that very special day of DEC 19, 2021
that is after 541 days, Venus' 2021 maximum longitude,
initiating a 6-week purge, readjustment and recalibration.
VENUS in Capricorn. Closely conjunct Pluto.
Humanity pushed towards a fundamental transfiguration towards fairness and social responsibility,
shaken awake to do the right thing and stand up for the weak and vulnerable,
for women and most of all for our children, for our future and ultimately for the survival of our species.

COMET LEONARD IN THE SUNSET SKY
~ Now visible by bare eye! ~

Around the world, astronomers are reporting a comet in the sunset sky.

It's Comet Leonard (C/2021 A1), which is falling toward the Sun.

How can a comet be visible at twilight? It's that bright. Comet Leonard
has brightened more than 5-fold since it passed by Earth last week
    on Dec 12, 2021.

Experienced observers say it is now shining like a 2nd or 3rd magnitude star.

Gary Dowdle, who photographed the comet on Dec. 14th, 2021
    from Fort Davis, Texas said:

"The Sun was only 13.5 degrees below the horizon when I took the picture,"
he adds. "Note the famous Marfa aerial blimp in the lower left of the frame."

    ************

To find Comet Leonard, let Venus be your guide.
On Dec. 17-18, 2021 the comet will pass just 4 million km
from the second planet--the closest Venus-comet flyby
    in recorded history.

Sunset photographers can find the two side by side in the constellaton Sagittarius.

The Amazing Astrology Of COMET C/2021 A1 LEONARD

There's no question, comet Leonard appears to have a most interesting affinity with planet Venus . . .
Get this: on DEC 18, 2021 this comet will have the closest ever recorded flyby with our neighboring planet!

And then, on DEC 19, 2021 it so happens, the comet's dust tail will graze Venus,
thus presumably producing a meteor shower which is expected to be visible from Earth!

Wow, what a blast! What a true once in a lifetime experience!

And bare in mind, DEC 19 is a very special day for Venus!

That's when, as seen from Earth, after 541 days of direct motion
Venus will reach maximum longitude, coming to a complete standstill,
to inititate its 6-week passage between Sun and Earth,
when for six weeks she'll appear moving backwards through the skies,
    energetically undergoing some profound recalibration.

If anything, such amazing synchronicity most defintely calls us to sit up and pay attention.

Leonard after all is 2021's brightest comet.

And like all comets, Leonard begs to be a wild card.

So, returning from its 35,000-year dive into deep space,
to come back in such perfect timing literally to engulf Venus in fireworks
    - well, I don't think it's too far fetched to see this as super auspicious
    - as a sign of utmost special times
    - a clear hint that we're about to enter six most extraordinary weeks,
that this will be a true highpoint in history.

Furthermore keep in mind, comet Leonard isn't just putting a spotlight on Venus,
it also rekindles energetic connections with a far distant past that is hidden
in the dark recesses of history.

Epic 35,000 years, that how long it's since comet Leonard last has visited the inner Solar system,
which predates the beginning of recorded history by tens of thousands of years.

Comet Leonard literally is reconnecting us with legendary times,
when likely the cultures of Atlantis or even Lemuria were in their prime.

    • Khoji Vihara
Ron, do we have any understanding of how close Leonard will pass by Venus?
Could it be close enough for Venus' gravitational pull to change the comet's orbital path?
      • Ron Scott
Khoji, based upon the JPL Horizons calculation, at the conjunction,
they are separated by 7.6 million km, as seen from Earth.

At the nearest proximity, using the Venus-center of body,
they are separated by 4.3 million km (or, .0285017481 au),
        and that's on Dec. 18, 2021 2:07:25.089 UT.
I think this translates to about 11-12 Earth-Moon distances.
        • Khoji Vihara
Ron Scott What zodiacal degree will Leonard be at when closest to Venus?

          Ron Scott
Khoji, from our perspective, at the closest approach C/2021 A1
will be at 23° Cap 00'40.45" and Venus will be at 26° Cap 27'11.36".
      • Khoji Vihara
        Thank you!

Khoji, according to the latest solution for the comet (Dec. 17, 2021),
the perihelion is now expected on 2021-01-03, 07:17:09.29 UT.
The ecliptic longitude is: 15° Aqu 06'52.24" at 0.61525513 au.
With a comet whose trajectory changes as it approaches the Sun,
it's important to realize that any prior delineation of the perihelion,
i.e., I-Ching references, degree symbolism, etc., may change,
meaning it's probably best to wait until the closest approach
to venture into this analysis exercise.

"If it hadn't been for the news of an ongoing outburst,
I wouldn't have taken my camera out this stormy night on La Palma.

Glad I did! Leonard has brightened substantially, it was clearly visible as a "star" left of Venus.

I estimated it to 3.0mag or brighter, difficult to say without suitable comparison stars
at the same level of atmospheric extincion.

Nice 1° tail in binoculars, too. Never write off a comet too early!"
