Upcoming Lunar Eclipse visible for half the planet in just a few days. Luckily I live on that half this time. Today I'll share my favorite eclipse photo and one I doubt I'll ever beat but I'll keep trying. 1f60a.
    Lunar Eclipse over Brokeoff Mountain.
This was the a total lunar eclipse from the last day of January 2018. It was the first lunar eclipse I had an opportunity to photography since a tetrad of eclipses had taken place a few years earlier in North America. I wanted to get something different from pictures of eclipses I had taken before and so I searched for a long time to get a place where it would be setting over an interesting background. In the end I decided to return to a place that I watched a comet set over the mountain in early 2015 with my brother since it is such a gorgeous place especially when covered in the snow. I also liked that I should be able to give it a different feel than the comet image because of the color of the eclipsed moon. I snowshoe hiked in about 2 miles and enjoyed the extreme peace and quiet as I waited for the eclipsed moon to set. I was pleasantly surprised to see the faintest of clouds lit up by the light of the red moon and to be able to see so many stars clearly on my view screen. While it was faint by eye a long exposure really makes it pop!
