AMMA’S MESSAGE

The World - A Mirror

Darling Children, the world is a mirror.

Each word, glance and action of us will get reflected
in the people around us.

If we love the world, the world will love us in return.

If we hate, in response we will get hatred itself.

One wrong word of ours will be enough to turn
even a person with good intentions into our enemy.

Similarly a good word spoken in the nick of time,

a good action can mellow out the mind of even a cruel person.

So we should always strive to awaken the goodness in us
and others through thoughts, words and deeds.

Only what we give the world will we get in return.

So those who desire for happiness should help others to find happiness.

For each one's welfare and happiness are related to all others' welfare
and happiness. None of us is solitary islands, only components
of the same chain of life.

If there is a mad man or drunkard in the neighbouring house,
we won't be able to sit undisturbed;
won’t be able to sleep during night due to the loud noise they make;
won't get peace even during daytime.

So it should be seen that the benefit of others living peacefully
is for us also.

There was a farmer who cultivated high quality maize.

It was he himself who won the award for the best cereal farmer
of that country for a few years.

One year the correspondent of a newspaper conducted interview
with this farmer.

The correspondent asked:

"What is the secret behind you raising this type of high yielding maize?”

The farmer said:

“I would share good quality seeds of the maize every year
with all other farmers of this place."

“The farmers in your neighbourhood
are also there in the competition.

Won't they also cultivate good maize
if you then share your seeds with them?

Won’t that become the reason for you getting failed in the contest?”
- the reporter asked.

The farmer said:

“That will never happen.

Do you know by the time the maize gets ripened,

the pollen in them will reach all the neighbouring fields,

flown by the wind.

Likewise the pollen from the plants of the other fields
will reach my field also.

If my neighbours grow low quality maize,
due to pollination the quality standards of the maize
produced in my field will also get declined gradually.

If good maize should be grown in my field,
I should help the neighbouring farmers
to cultivate good maize.

It is because of the attention and care
which I maintain in farming
and of the co-operation with others
that I can produce the best quality maize.”

Our life is also like that.

If we wish to lead life filled with happiness and wealth,

we should help to the extent we are capable of,

for getting filled the lives of the people around us

also with happiness and wealth.
