THE GOOD WORK OF RUBY FALCONER:

Venus is stationary in a same-degree conjunction with Chiron, the Wounded Healer, and in the water sign Pisces. Venus turns direct early tomorrow (April 15) eastern time.

In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Chiron is Anubis in his sovereignty as the Shaman King. In the myths of Greece and Rome, Chiron was a centaur, half human and half horse. There are several stories about his bir
th but my favorite is as follows.

Chiron was born to a human mother who had been raped by a centaur. When she realized that she had given birth to a centaur, she was horrified and left him alone in a cave to die. Chiron was bereft and in great grief. But he was also a normal baby and very hungry. He crawled to the mouth of the cave, looking for food.

Some local wood nymphs took pity on him and brought him food. Every day, Chiron would crawl to the mouth of the cave, eat the food left there, and crawl back into the cavern. Eventually he grew too big for the cave and so crawled out. In essence, he gave birth to himself.

As a race, the Centaurs were a rowdy bunch – crashing parties and causing all sorts of damage. Unlike his brethren, Chiron grew up to be a wise and noble being. He became an advisor to Zeus, a healer, a magician, and a teacher to the demi-gods. However, he never forgot his humble beginnings and the great pain of abandonment by his mother. His counsel and teachings were always wise, gentle and full of empathy. For this reason, Chiron holds the archetype of The Wounded Healer.

Anubis was also abandoned by his mother. Nephthys, sister to Isis and wife to Set, gave birth to a child fathered by Osiris -– husband and consort of her sister. Nephthys believed her child would be killed by her husband. Late at night, under a star-filled sky, she took the baby Anubis out into the desert and left him on the ground, alone and unprotected. In the traditional telling of this myth, Nephthys is condemned for her actions. In information downloaded directly by Anubis to Linda Star Wolf, my co-author and co-creator of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Anubis revealed that his perceived abandonment was part of a grand plan. Anubis was “rescued” by Isis, the solar aspect of the Great Goddess and twin to the lunar aspect held by Nephthys. Anubis grew up under the care and tutelage of Isis and became the One who holds the Key to the mystery of life on Earth.

In Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, Chiron/Anubis unlocks the healing power of our greatest wound from childhood. All who live on this planet have in some way experienced the pain of abandonment in their early life. Yet, few are truly abandoned.

    … to be continued tomorrow.

Part 2: Today (April 15, 2017) at dawn (eastern time),
Venus/Isis turned direct in a same-degree conjunction with Chiron/Anubis and in a square – a challenging relationship - to Saturn/Sobek. Yesterday I wrote about Chiron/Anubis; today I will focus on the square to Saturn/Sobek.
Venus/Isis describes our values and what we want to receive. Venus/Isis and Chiron/Anubis are emanating through the water sign Pisces/Sothis. This is the sign of the Bodhisattva – the soul who chooses to return to Earth because of their huge love for this planet and all who live upon it. This is a tender alignment between the Queen Mother of Heaven and the Shaman King. Through opening to their great love and compassion we are reminded of our own Bodhisattva hearts.
A square represents a challenge that expresses itself both individually through our personal experience but also collectively through our societal affairs. This present square is a measure of how out of step we are with our capacity for compassion. Saturn/Sobek is the archetype of the Old King. He is not a bad fellow – he is often wise and he knows a thing or two. He deserves to be listened to and respected. But he is also run by fear. The Old King senses that he is at the end of his time of power and he is afraid - in essence - of his inevitable death. It is time for him to lay down his scepter and pass his power on to a new generation – a new way of thinking and doing. He does not want to do this and he resists, with all his remaining strength.
In ancient Greece, Saturn was known as Cronos. Cronos was so afraid of his children usurping his power, he swallowed them whole. Here we see Saturn/Sobek at his worst – and his potential abuse of power. From this place stems the oppressive practices of authoritarianism. It takes a violent act to stop him – his son Zeus, who escaped his imprisonment, cuts open Cronos, freeing his brothers and sisters and, in the process, killing Cronos. The Old King dies; all hail to the New King. Who will, of course, with time become the Old King.
All things are born, grow, mature, become old, die. Resistance to the inevitability of death takes place on all levels of our Earth experience – both individually and collectively. And, on a collective level we are in a new round of this battle. It doesn’t matter which side of the great cultural divide you fall on, I’ve no doubt you can read these words and see them as a description of your own political perspective: current events are happening because the old sources of power will not give up their hold and because they continue to resist the new way of doing things. And it is this very attitude of division that must die; this polarization is the Old King who must let go. If we refuse to see the bigger picture – that this is one planet and we are all Earthlings – we will kill Gaia and all her creatures, including ourselves. Planetary change starts one soul at a time. We must all realize that “the problem” is not with the other – the oppression of the Old King lies within.
During these spring mornings, Venus/Isis and Chiron/Anubis are rising at dawn with Saturn/Sobek sitting high above in the southern sky. Go out and call in these powerful forces of compassion, power and resistance. Open your heart, find compassion for your fear, and allow yourself to feel it fully. And then, from this gentle place of strength and vulnerability, step into your true power.
