UNDERWATER PYRAMID DISCOVERED IN AZORES ISLANDS
    LATEST NEWS

Amateur Discovery Of PERFECT Submerged PYRAMID (Azores) - Media Noticeably Silent

    Created on Tuesday, 01 October 2013 12:21
You will not find this anywhere in mainstream media because NOAA and other underwater mapping agencies have been mapping this area near the Mid-Atlantic Ridge since the beginning of this technology. They have surely known about this pyramid for some time.

Reports of Underwater Pyramid off the Coast of Terceira Island

    Created on Thursday, 26 September 2013 12:05
Portuguese news sites are reporting on the apparent discovery of a man-made subaquatic pyramid between the islands of São Miguel and Terceira in the Azore in Portugal. The underwater pyramidal structure was found by a private yacht owner, Diocleiano Silva, who spotted the strange shaped object on sonar at a depth of 40 metres while sailing in the area.
The structure is said to be perfectly squared and oriented by the cardinal points. It is thought to be approximately 60 metres tall with a base of around 8,000 square metres. The Portuguese Hydrographic Institute of the Navy is currently analysing the data to determine whether it is in fact man-made or not.

    pyramid-azores.jpg?itok=SAMMBKDJ

As the area is a volcanic zone, a natural rise in the group cannot yet be ruled out, however, some archaeologists fear that the ‘natural formation’ conclusion may be drawn too quickly if the data contradicts what is already believed to be true about the history of the region. The Azorean archipelago was discovered uninhabited by the Portuguese around 1427. However, recent archaeological evidence on Pico island suggests that humans occupied the Azores thousands of years before the Portuguese arrived. Evidence has been found on all nine of the Azorean archipelago including pyramidal rock structures, some of them 13 meters tall, which appear to align with the summer solstices, an epigraph from Roman times, Carthaginian sanctuaries, cave art, and megalithic structures.

Sunken Atlantis Pyramid' Discovered off Azores Coast

    Created on Thursday, 26 September 2013 11:09

A huge pyramid had been discovered off the Azores islands by Portuguese amateur sailor Diocletian Silva.
The 60m-tall structure was found underwater between the islands of Sao Miguel and Tercira. Its base measures 8,000 sq m - bigger than a football field - and Silva believes it was man-made.
He says his find may be a remnant of the legendary lost world of Atlantis, which sank into the ocean after a failed attempt to invade Athens.
Silva found the pyramid around five months ago while fishing on his yacht in the area. He discovered the structure through bathymetric navigation and its tip is submerged around 40ft.

"It's amazing because it forms a perfect pyramid. And moreover, orientation, deployment of the pyramid: the vertices are oriented north and south, just north and south, such as the Giza pyramids in Egypt," he told Portuguese news website Terra.
However, the Department of Oceanography and Fisheries at the University of Azores is less convinced of its mythical nature.
It is now being investigated by the Portuguese Navy, which is analysing the data underlying the discovery.

Experts have not ruled out the pyramid being a natural structure (Alton Parrish/YouTube)

Admiral Fernando Pires, commander of the Maritime Zone of Azores, said there is not enough information about the pyramid at this time to say what exactly it is.

However, he said the structure does not pose a threat: "At the time we seek probes that could constitute a danger to navigation and found nothing," he told Sapo.
Pires said the navy has not ruled out the idea that the pyramid could have been formed by a volcanic eruption - the archipelago of the Azores is composed of volcanic islands.

Giant Underwater Pyramid Found Near Azores Islands

    Created on Wednesday, 25 September 2013 11:25
Researchers (I’m not sure what they’re researching, the ocean?) have discovered what appears to be a giant underwater pyramid in the middle of the ocean near an area known as the Bank De Joao de Castro.

This is in between the islands of Terceira and Sao Miguel, in the middle of the Azores archipelago
which is situated in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean.

The pyramid is allegedly 60m high and has a base of 8000 square metres
which makes it a pretty significant structure, even if it is sitting on the ocean floor.

It was discovered by sailor Diocleciano Silva via bathymetry readings
(these are actually a really concept – it’s the study of the underwater depth of lake or ocean floors)
and is currently being seriously investigated by these researchers with the assistance of the Portuguese Navy.

Diocleciano Silva doesn’t believe that the pyramid can possible be of man made origin given where it is located
but no definitive answers about it have been given yet. However, given the fact that the area has been underwater
for 20,000 years since the last ice age, it definitely seems like something out of the ordinary is up with it.

You can watch a Portuguese news report with English subtitles on the discovery below. The English is really broken and doesn’t really make much sense but you can kind of get the gist of what they’re saying, and it seems like they’re relating it to what it says in the news report. I don’t know Portuguese so can’t understand if the subtitles are actually correct but it definitely seems like they’re discussing an underwater pyramid from the Portuguese words and images they’re using, so I don’t think it can possibly be a hoax unless it’s an incredibly well staged one? Opinions?

For what it’s worth, the Azores have always been a mysterious region. They are a chain of nine volcanic islands in three main groups that are roughly 930 miles west of Lisbon. They’re situated on the fault lines between the North American, Eurasian and African tectonic plates and were probably formed as a result of ‘land uprising’ (check out the post about the Pakistani earthquake creating an island to find out all about that) and were recolonized in 1941.
However, since then artifacts have been found on the islands that would suggest they were inhabited before a long long time ago, even before the time of Christ. As of today, nobody really knows how they got there or just what was going on on these islands before they were repopulated in 1941. Following the discovery of this alleged pyramid everyone is speculating that it could be – or is at least linked to – the legendary underwater city of Atlantis – but until we actually get a camera/person down there and check it out for real I for one am withholding my judgment. I’m eager to find out just what the hell it is though and how the hell it got there because I’m stumped.

Lost City of Atlantis Found Near Azores Island Chain In Portugal, 2013?

    Created on Wednesday, 25 September 2013 11:11
The legendary Atlantis, was first mentioned by the Greek philosopher, Plato in his dialogues Timaeus and Critias,
written in c. 360 BC. According to Plato, Atlantis was a naval power lying “across the Pillars of Hercules” that conquered many parts of Western Europe and Africa 9,000 years before the time of the legendary Athenian lawgiver Solon,
i.e. in the 10th millennium BC. After a failed attempt to invade Athens, Atlantis sank into the ocean
in a single day and night of misfortune.

The newly discovered Pyramid is said to be sixty meters tall with a base of approximately 8,000 square meters.

It is around forty meters below water and aligned with the four cardinal compass directions,
similar to the Great Pyramid of Giza.

at a depth of approximately 40m.

It was said to have been discovered by Diocleciano Silva, a private yacht owner

The structure is thought to be approximately 60m tall and has a base of around 8,000 square meters.

Details are scarce at this point however it is thought that this could be evidence that the islands were inhabited long before the arrival of the Portuguese. Archaeological evidence on Pico island is said to date back several thousand years. Rock art, megalithic structures and other signs of human activity have also been discovered across all nine islands of the Azorean archipelago.

    Atlantis Discovered?

    New Mysterious Underwater Pyramid

    Found Near Azores Island

Was Atlantis discovered? Was this underwater structure home of the advanced prehistoric civilization known as Atlantis?

A new mysterious giant underwater pyramid was discovered between the islands of Terceira and São Miguel in the Azores Islands.

    d80431929a16b7375c490f7e0e7e1c5f4f8f802f.
Was Atlantis found? A sonar view of this mysterious pyramid found near the Azores.
Sailor Diocleciano Smith has discovered, based on bathymetry readings, a 60 meters high underwater pyramid near the Bank De João de Castro, between the islands of Terceira and São Miguel. The mysterious building is around forty meters below water and aligned with the four cardinal compass directions, similar to the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Is this newly discovered underwater pyramid man-made or natural?

The discoverer doesn’t believe the pyramid is of natural origin. This matter is already being investigated with the support of the Portuguese Navy.
Are these the remains of the lost City of Atlantis?

Legends of an advanced prehistoric civilization know as Atlantis have been around since the beginning of history, but previously those who searched for it were divided whether or not it was located near the Azores, South America or elsewhere. From as far back as Plato it was suggested the original builders of the pyramids lived west of Gibraltar, but findings of Machu Picchu, and other curiosities in the Mediterranean, led people to believe it was on the other side of the Atlantic.

Those artifacts are thought to have predated Christ by a few thousand years, but the location of the pyramid has been below water for 20,000 years since the last ice age.
Legends also persisted of Atlantis, Sete Cidades (Kingdoms of the Seven Cities), the Terras of São Brandão, the Ilhas Aofortunadas (The Fortunate Islands), the Ilha da Brasil (the Island of Brasil), Antília, the Ilhas Azuis (Blue Islands), the Terra dos Bacalhaus (Land of Codfish), and charts appeared between 1351 and 1439 of several groupings of islands with various names. The first association between the modern island of Terceira and these stories, was that of the island of Brasil; it first appears as Insula de Brasil in the Venetian map of Andrea Bianco (1436), attached to one of the larger islands of a group of islands in the Atlantic.
So was Atlantis finally discovered off the Azores?

I have been following the Azores pyramid story for some time and reported it here last year. The picture in the reports linked above is, of course, a photoshopped artefact using the Giza pyramids and overlaid with an underwater scene. It is, in my humble opinion, highly irresponsible of any website to use this image without making it clear that it is a photoshopped fantasy, and not anything real. That being said, however, there IS an anomalous structure underwater off the Azores, so far only identified by sonar. The Portuguese navy have dismissed it as a ‘seamount’ on the basis of some old sonar readings of their own in the area, but they have not gone to the site to investigate exactly what was identified there in 2013. As far as I’m concerned the case is still open and I hope to take a look later this year.
Thank you, Graham, for that caution.
If this sort of revelation intrigues you, I encourage you to have a look at a website that outlines submerged ruins, cities, forests, pyramids, roads, walls and other signs of early civilizations at Drowned Cities.
I found it riveting and had no idea there had been so many discoveries in so many areas of the planet.
