Susan's Bannock - Fry Bread with Coconut Oil

You can mix up the dry ingredients and; put into a baggie
    - and; then add the wet ingredients when you are ready to make it
(we do this out on the pow wow trail when camping)

This is easy, fun, quick and simple way to have 'good food' outside
It is also possible to use this recipe,
and, wrap the dough around a hot dog on a stick & cook over a fire

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups of flour
    • 2 tablespoons of sugar
    • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
    • 2 pinch of salt
    • you can add thinks like pre-fried onions and garlic; etc. blueberries, etc., (experiment with ingredients)

    Instructions

    1. Mix these dry ingredients together in quantity ( keeping these proportions ) and store in a plastic bag.
    2. Now add just enough water to make a stiff dough. Do not over work this dough. I dust my hands with flour and form the dough into 2 to 6 flat pancakes.
    3. Deep fry one to three at a time in 1 inch of hot coconut oil or lard,
    4. or brush with ghee or olive oil and fry in a non-stick or cast iron skilled,
    5. be sure to do both sides - turn over when brown
    6. take out of skillet - and simply
    7. Drain on paper towels
