    EARTHING and, GROUNDING ENERGIES

How to utilize earthing to ground yourself

Have you ever had someone tell you,
you are NOT grounded, or, your energy is everywhere
except where it is supposed to be ...
well; i found these interesting articles
and, i am going to share them here:

I have been asked how can someone tap into the energy that is now so very close. Now, before I go into any details, I have to remind you that these are very intense energies, and you should ALWAYS ground yourself BEFORE and AFTER connecting to these kinds of energies. I will post links at the end to Centering and Grounding yourself.
Before you start, the first tip I can give you, is to TRUST yourself and your own ability. You aren't tapping into the energy of the earth, you are tapping into the energy of celestial events, which means you will need to reach with your own energy. When you sense the energy of an object you use your personal energy through your hand(s), this time you will be using your energy to go beyond your body, to reach for the heavens.
    Instructions...
    1) Instead of covering your hand with your personal energy, expand the tendril further, beyond your body, to sense the energy at a distance.
**When you are sensing energy at a distance, you need to keep the tendril focused, or it will falter and not be able to sense anything properly. You can do this by visualising 1) the Earth being balanced, like on a see-saw 2) the Solar Eclipse or 3) the New Moon bigger than normal
    2) Don't go too far to begin with, control is the name of the game here. Try reaching for the Equinox energy, as it is the closest energy to you, and the easiest to tap into.
    3) Practice extending, and reabsorbing your personal energy, and with time and patience, you will be able to extend it further and further.
**Remember, you are not trying to channel or drawn on all the energy available, you are only wanting to have a taste of what is available. If you were to channel ALL the energy, you could make yourself sick. The headaches could be horrid.
    4) Keep detailed notes and records about your efforts and the results you achieve, both the positive and the negative results. These notes will act as a reminder of what you can do, what you have done, and when you are have a crisis of faith, they act as proof. These notes will also help you to hone the techniques you use, and to explore the many other ways of sensing energy of different events like the Full Moon, different Sabbats, or different planetary positions.
In the end, as with everything in the craft, it is about patience and practice. If you hurry, you will miss out on so many incredible feelings and experiences and you may find yourself in over your head. Take each step one at a time.

I hope you enjoy the energy of these events, and you take a moment to sit with them and allow the energy to flow over you. You don't need to do anything except open your mind to the flowing energy. And there is a lot of it.

Grounding is literally the transfer of excess energy to the earth - it's for this reason that it is often referred to as "Earthing". When you are doing any kind of energy work you need to ensure that you ave some kind of connection to the earth (whether it by energy, or physically) with the earth. This connection allows and excess energy to be bled to the Earth and away from your own energy center. If you don't ground yourself, you can become overloaded, and this can be very disorientating. You could become nervous and twitchy, and in very rare cases, not grounding properly, or enough can be harmful. An energy imbalance of any extreme (too much, or not enough) is very unhealthy. Keeping your energy balanced before, during and after any energy (spell or ritual) work is essential.

I've seen it too many times (and I've done it myself) where you use your own energy to power a spell (or ritual), rather than use the energy from your surroundings. The results of this is fatigue, , feeling unbalanced, you can get headaches and even (like me) nose bleeds. This is your body protesting against the energy loss. If you don't ground and retain the excess energy in your body, you can become light headed and very overwhelmed mentally and emotionally.

There is a vast amount of energy sitting, waiting, right beneath your feet. When you ground yourself properly, you are able to tap into these reserves of stored energy to help power the work you are doing. There are some people that believe you shouldn't take energy from the earth, that is is a very selfish act, and it should be left alone... When in reality, the opposite is true. When you draw on energy from the earth, the amount you take is tiny compared to the immense amounts of potential energy. Besides, when you ground any excess energy you are giving the unused or unneeded energy back to the earth. So it all works itself out in the long run. You take a small amount, and return some of your own.

The energy that you draw from the earth is always NEUTRAL, no matter what kind of energy you put into it. The earth purifies all the energy it is given.

Now, you don't have to be physically touching the ground in order to ground your energy, you can do it anywhere. You could be standing on the top of the Eiffel Tower, or on an aeroplane. All you need to do is think "down" and allow the energy to follow the direction of your thoughts. -*- I think about the Earth's Core and the way down to it -*-

When it comes to grounding techniques, it's all about personal preference. Everyone has their own comfort zone, and their own methods of effective grounding techniques. I am hoping that Falon will be able to add some of his techniques to this along the way. Some find they become grounded as soon as their energy reaches the surface, while for others, their energy needs to reach a little deeper.

    BASIC GROUNDING TECHNIQUE

    1) Center your energy.
    2) Imagine there is a seed of light sitting there
    3) Visualise the seed sprouting a tendril of energy, and then that tendril grow down through your body.
** sometimes this tendril may extend from the base of your spine, directly into the ground, while other times the tendril separates and flows down your legs and though your feet to the ground.
    4) Once the tendril is in the ground visualise it expanding, growing, reaching further into the earth until you feel yourself connect.
    5) You can envision the tendril splitting and forming a root like system.

Some people find it easier to reach upwards instead of down, and this is much like the process I explained above, the only difference is instead of visualizing the tendrils reaching to the ground, they reach for the sky.

If you are looking for steadiness and stability, ground yourself both upwards and downwards. When you do both you're essentially creating a column-like structure within yourself from the sky, through your center and down to the earth. This kind of grounding makes it very hard to unbalance you.

    Centering 101

The term centering is a process of focusing on the energy at the center of your body. Traditionally you pair centering with the process of grounding as a prelude to performing spells and rituals. I've seen that you much 'ground' before you center yourself, but I have found the opposite to be true. You center yourself before you ground. Why would you grab blindly for the earth's energy and have nowhere to focus it?

When you are centering yourself you are finding a place that is within you, and it is from this place you are able to focus the energy you wish to ground. Centering is a way to bring all the stray energy from your body and bring it back to one single place within you, it's drawn back to the place of your own personal power. Once all this "stray" energy has been collected, you begin to feel centered, and focused.

In all the books that I have read, centering is always described in vague and watery terms, and when you are a solitary and have no one to ask, it can be bloody frustrating. I mean what is your energy center, and how do you find it if no one explain it clearly? Many books seem to romanticize it to a degree.

Buckland - "the process of focusing on your spiritual center, allowing mundane issues to fall away leaving calm and serenity"

RavenWolf - "to find the ultimate peaceful calm at the center of your being...the still point - the absolute moment of calm when you feel you are one with the universe"

These are two of the most famous and renowned pagan authors and neither of them explain WHAT your center is, or HOW you go about finding it. Yes, their words are pretty, but for practical reasons, utterly useless. They describe the feeling you have once you are centered. But... how do you find your own center when no one explains it clearly? That is what I am hoping to do here. To begin, you need to ask yourself some questions, and answer them honestly.

    1) Where do you instinctively feel your energy coming from?
    2) Where do you first feel your emotions?
    3) Where do you feel your intuition coming from?
    4) Where do you first sense energy?
    5) When you raise energy, is there a place in your body that resonates with it?
    6) When you are relaxed and let your mind roam over the different areas of your body, where do you feel the most likely to be your storehouse of energy?

Many people find their center is one of the seven major energy centers of the body - the chakras. These are the centers of energy where the spiritual and physical bodies overlap. For quite a lot of people, they find their personal center corresponds to the area relating to the Solar Plexus, as this is roughly the halfway mark of the body. This isn't always true though, some people find their energy center is located in the area of the Brow Chakra, and some in the area of their heart.

My personal center is just below my heart chakra, low on my breast bone. This is where I send healing and energy, and when I work with crystals. It is also where I "pick up" energy when I am working with other witches.

Use the questions above to help you find your own center, and don't be afraid if it takes a few tries to get it right. Don't be in a hurry, take your time.
