GUNNER back from WW2 GUNNER was raised and slept under my uncles anti- aircraft gun. The gun crew shared their rations to feed him. By the time he was 18 months old my uncle said he would stand up and look at the sky. If he layed back down they new all was ok. If he growled and put his hackles up they got at the ready. He new the sound of the German aircraft and my uncle said he never got it wrong. He said gunner was better than any early warning system. I’m probably the only one left in the family that knows that story now so I thought I’d tell it before it’s lost forever like many story’s must be from that time. Thanks for reading it. And there's a Film in your story believe me, I mean I'm English but was told the Story of "Grey Friers Bobby" when I was a kid & loved it, That made a Good Film why not "Gunner" Richard Linley correctly suggested Story & Picture should be in Wellingborough Museum, He's right, People must keep sharing these great Stories it very important they don't get lost 90 Manage Like · 3d Lynn Shailer Beautiful, thank you for sharing 14 Manage Like · 3d Louise Jane Robinson Amazing xx 9 Manage Like · 3d Archie Brown I love this story. Like Mavis said he was royal artillery anti- aircraft. I’m sure he served down on the south coast but I’m not hundred percent sure. Manage Like · 6h Roy Green Ian, OK, I just wondered if he served in the Middle East, my Dad was an Ack Ack gunner, at most of the major battles there but he knew about the story your uncle told, maybe a lot of the guys at barracks had heard the story, it is a great one Roy Green This was a shot of the gun in the desert, this is what "Gunner" the dog would have slept under.
