How to watch the solar eclipse live online

As you may have heard, a total solar eclipse is going to sweep across North America on Monday.

Everyone in the Lower 48 states, weather permitting, will be able to see a partial eclipse,
in which the moon will partially obscure the face of the sun.
(Using eclipse glasses or a pinhole projector, of course. Protect those eyes.)
Canada will only get a partial eclipse, with 90 per cent of the sun covered in Victoria,
to just 31 per cent coverage in St. John's.

However, it is only on the relatively narrow 70-mile wide path of totality stretching
from Oregon to South Carolina where, for a few minutes,
the moon will completely obscure the face of the sun.

Unfortunately, it's only along the path of totality that the true drama of a total eclipse can be seen.

The sky will shift from daylight to a deep twilight.

The stars will come out. Crickets will chirp.
And perhaps most spectacularly, the sun's pale outer atmosphere will briefly be revealed.

But if getting to the path of totality is not possible for you this year, don't fret.

This is 2017.

You can virtually experience the total eclipse, in real time, right from your computer,
TV or mobile device thanks to the magic of live-streaming.
NASA's wide-ranging, four-hour-long eclipse extravaganza begins at 12 p.m.
with a preview show hosted from Charleston, S.C.

The space agency's broadcast will include views from satellites,
aircraft, telescopes and even high-altitude balloons.

There will also be live reports from cities along the path of totality including Salem, Ore.;
Idaho Falls, Idaho; Beatrice, Neb.; Jefferson City, Mo.; and Carbondale, Ill.

You can watch it on Facebook, YouTube, Ustream or via the NASA app for iOS and Android.

The astronomy website Slooh.com will host a five-hour live broadcast
on the day of the eclipse beginning at 11:30 a.m. EDT.

The show will include commentary from astronomers,
as well as live feeds from observatories in the path of totality across the country.
The site will also live-stream a Spanish-language version of its broadcast.

If you'd like to watch the eclipse from the edge of space,
tune in to the NASA Eclipse Ballooning Project's live feed.
The project consists of 55 groups of high school students,
college students and ballooning clubs who will be flying 100 high-altitude balloons
equipped with live-streaming capabilities to the edge of space.

The balloons will rise up to 100,000 feet above ground level,
capturing the eclipse from just above the curvature of the Earth.

6 STRANGE Things That Happen During a Solar Eclipse

I am fortunate to be spending this eclipse with a wonderful group of shamanic souls
at Venus Rising’s Aquarian Shaman Blue Star Total Solar Eclipse Celebration at Dove Mountain
in western North Carolina.

We’ve been enjoying a full weekend of ritual and celebration leading up to today,
when we will witness the total solar eclipse in silent meditation.
In many traditions, looking at the Sun during a total solar eclipse is discouraged.

It is said that the Moon is “eating” the Sun.

This is sacred business of the gods, not to be witnessed by humans
but rather a process to be honored by staying indoors and holding space in prayer and meditation.

In Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, the Moon is aligned with the healer god Khonsu.

In ancient Egypt, it was believed that all dis-ease, whether physical, emotional, psychological,
or collective, was caused by demons. An appeal would be made to Khonsu,
asking that he eat the demons that cause “dis-ease.”

It is also said that a solar eclipse reveals that which is hidden,
and we’ve certainly seen a lot of that during our two-week transition between the Lunar Eclipse
on August 7 and the Solar Eclipse today. D

is-ease, manifesting as a deep vein of hatred, racism and intolerance,
has been revealed and it is impossible to ignore.

A Solar Eclipse is a portal into a new phase of reality, created through consensus agreement.

My prayer for this Solar Eclipse is that Khonsu will eat the demons
that are causing our collective “dis-ease” so that we might create a new consensus reality
based on love rather than hatred.

I am grateful to be spending this totality with a group of beautiful souls
who believe that the solution is action based on an understanding that we are One World
– an interconnected biological eco-sphere. What hurts one of us hurts us all.
We are all Earthlings. Peace.
