March 2022 - Floods Of Australia

This is a very selective post of special images,
and it is my Last Post about the Great Flood,
after the Biblical Deluge just 2 weeks ago,
in the Northern Rivers Region of the state of New South Wales,
in Australia.

No photo captures what has taken place, or the way our community
has been traumatized.

We get floods every summer but Never, NEVER like this!!

Each of these images is iconic in capturing the complexity of this catastrophe.

I will caption each image .. and the final image tells a tale.

Posting about the Great Flood helps each of us
'process the shock' of this disaster which arrived in the middle
of the night without any proper warnings ...

apparently even the meteorologists didn't see it coming,

so people didn't get a chance to evacuate in time.

Adrenaline Heartbreak is everywhere :

shock-grief-total Exhaustion!!

Love, Kindness, and Heroism are also Everywhere,

and our True sense of Community and Belonging pervades the Exhaustion ...
such healing.

TRADIES, TRADIES .. please come, from far and wide!!

Please COME, and help us rebuild our demolished landscape,
and shattered homes.

More than one house Burned whilst the flood ripped through !! It seems impossible, doesn't it?! Yet this occurred in my neighbourhood.

 

The water was Raging through Lismore, as boats from everywhere rescued people from near drowning inside the roof cavities, and people clinging to rooves and trees.

 

Whole walls were ripped away by the ferocious flow. .. the Balcony of The Terrace @ The Richmond Hotel.

 

Water water water as far as the eye can see .. a brown ocean 150kms (over 90 miles) north to south, and 70kms (over 40 miles) east to west .. such a vast area decimated.

Cars Shredded by huge boulders swept along by flood and landslide.

 

his is one of the main roads into Lismore ...the ferocious speed of the water cannot be seen in a photo. .. and the Noise of it all. Such intensity.

 

Many towns had filthy water to the ceiling. Some towns EVERY House Lost EVERYThing.

 

Many Many animals died .. not this precious pooch, thank Goodness.
