Mars is the god of war. In traditional astrology,
Mars is action directed toward manifestation
– both creative and destructive.

Mars in Scorpio is focused, determined and ruthless.

This warrior is at home in the underworld
and is not afraid of the darker aspects of the life/death/rebirth spiral.

In the language of Shamanic Egyptian Astrology,
Mars is Set, the Warrior King; Scorpio is Bast, Awakener of our Holy Longing.

Set is both loyal protector of Ra and murderer of his brother Osiris.

This archetype of the betrayer is found in other stories
– Cain and Abel; Judas and Jesus.

Set is run by powerful emotions and reflects
very human conflicts around love, loyalty, jealousy and hate.

Set is one of the most feared of the Egyptian pantheon,
associated by some with Satan, and he is more like us
than we care to acknowledge.

Mars/Set in the emanation of Scorpio/Bast both revels
in the dark thrill of power and aspires to the highest expression
of sacred purpose.

In traditional astrology, there are three symbols for the water sign Scorpio.

The Scorpion, which will sting itself when angry and thereby die;
the Phoenix – the mythical bird who bursts into flames
and arises out of the ashes; the Eagle.

No creature on Earth flies as high as the Eagle.

All this is Scorpio and those with Scorpio energy strong
in their chart will explore both the depths and heights of their emotional nature.

This time around, the focus is on the drama and intensity of The Phoenix.

This is about the right use of personal power.

A strong Warrior can cause great harm or ascend to great heights.

The question is which aspect of The Warrior
– The Cruel Destroyer or The Loyal Protector
