An interview with Professor Peter Piot, one of the researchers who discovered and named the Ebola virus in the 70's :

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...-piot-outbreak

What is interesting is the level at which the virus has become so much more dangerous, obviously having mutated several times since its discovery in the 1970's. When the professor and his colleagues first examined it, they wore no protective clothing, not knowing obviously how lethal it was, it arrived from Africa to their laboratory in Antwerp in a thermos, two vials of blood, one broken inside slushing around with water and ice, fished out by the doctor just wearing protective gloves. At a later stage in their research, a vial containing virus material falls and smashes in the laboratory, coming into contact with one of the doctors, after disinfecting the lab luckily none involved were infected. And again at that time after doctors went to Zaire to study the virus and treat infected patients, they had protective suits yes, but didn't wear breathing gear, Professor Piot wore a pair of motorcycle goggles to cover his eyes!

Ebola epidemic could become global crisis, experts warn

I have been watching this one for a number of days now and it is scarey stuff - pretty alarming and not doom porn stuff

it is not the first ebola crisis for sure - but I think it is the first time that it has left the rural areas and entered a major city with a notable population

this city is Conakry, the capital and largest city of Guinea with now 8 confirmed cases as of Mar 28th. Conakry is a port city on the Atlantic Ocean and serves as the economic, financial and cultural centre of Guinea with a population around Two Million people. It is also home to Gbessia International Airport.

So far it has spread through Guinea to various regions as of March 28th (see below and a Liberia case has now been confirmed) and some borders have been locked down

We are talking maximum spread potential here and rather scarey stuff. It has a incubation time of 4-21 days and is the worst strain called the Ebola Zaire that was discovered in 1976 and has been the inspiration for all of those outbreak and virus movies - it has a 90% mortality rate in some cases with an average overall of an 86% mortality rate - there is no cure nor vaccine

    just a FYI

due to lots of unconfirmed info

tests confirm that the guy in Canada does not have Ebola
    - yet he and his fam are still isolated - just to be safe I presume

From Africa to Canada: Deadly Ebola virus outbreak gets mobile - Mar 25

    from: youtube.com/watch?v=DmO3hU2_QYc

    those test results are back:

Canadian Man Tests Negative for Ebola - Mar 25

nor does the guy in Minnesota USA - he has Lassa fever instead - another type of haemorrhagic fever

Lassa fever confirmed in traveler returning to Minnesota from West Africa - April 4

health screening has been set up in airports in Guinea

these were the only two "scares" that I know of - so far

    fingers crossed for no more

it is pretty scarey though - and those that keep saying that there is nothing to worry about - come back later and say "ok maybe you should worry"

Ebola outbreak 'most challenging' as Guinea deaths pass 100 - BBC April 8

    _74029959_74028737.

The number of people believed to have been killed by the Ebola virus in Guinea has passed 100, the UN World Health Organization says.

It was "one of the most challenging Ebola outbreaks we have ever dealt with" and could take another four months to contain, the WHO said.

The virus had now killed 101 people in Guinea and 10 in Liberia, it said.

Ebola is spread by close contact and kills between 25% and 90% of its victims.

Many West African states have porous borders, and people travel frequently between countries.

    'High alert'

Southern Guinea is at the epicentre of the outbreak, with the first case reported last month.

The geographical spread of the outbreak is continuing to make it particularly challenging to contain - past outbreaks have involved much smaller areas.

"We fully expect to be engaged in this outbreak for the next two to three to four months before we are comfortable that we are through it," Keija Fukuda, WHO's assistant director-general, said at a news briefing in Geneva, Reuters news agency reports.

continuing updates seem to just be recaps of the recap already out there (just higher death tolls) - but saved for last is an alarming bonus for the USA

Ebola experts in west Africa battle to stem deadly outbreak – in pictures
    Janise Elie - theguardian.com, Friday 11 April 2014 06.33 EDT

Medical authorities in Guinea and other neighboring African countries are struggling to contain an outbreak of Ebola, one of the world's deadliest viruses. The tropical pathogen, which can trigger haemorrhagic fever and organ failure, has a fatality rate of up to 90%. The outbreak has killed more than two-thirds of those who have been infected, including 101 people in Guinea and neighboring Liberia

a survival website has released this whopper of a story (including DoD documentation):

EBOLA Detection Kits Deployed To National Guard Units In All 50 States
Posted on April 11, 2014 by SurvivalBackpack

(POTR) On April 8th Congress was informed by the the Department of Defense [DoD] that because of emerging threats JBAIDS hemorrhagic fever assays have been deployed to National Guard units of all 50 States.

    jbaids_big-1.

“By partnering with the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and the Food and Drug Administration, we have made accessible additional diagnostic assays for high consequence, low probability biological threat agents for use during declared public health emergencies. This collaboration has facilitated the availability of viral hemorrhagic fever diagnostic assays for use during a declared emergency and adds previously unavailable preparedness capabilities to this fielded system…

To address the need for a near term capability to combat emerging threat materials, we have already provided Domestic Response Capability kits to the National Guard weapons of mass destruction civil support teams resident in all 50 states. These kits provide emerging threat mitigation capability that includes detection, personnel protection, and decontamination.”

FYI an assay is just a targeted blood work up (lab procedure) to asses or quantify the presence and or amount or any functional activity present in a subject's blood, through the use of reactants (to cause chemical reactions so as to promote chemical visibility) - to reiterate: the article says additional kits with expanded testing abilities (ie Ebola specific reactants)

IF this is not some swine flu type psy-op - this could be the big one continually proposed as just another one of the end of the world as we know it scenarios over the last decade

in case some have not been paying attention - shit just got real

no time for me to delineate the evolution of the Ebola crisis since my last update on this as my internet time has become very limited as of late

so I will point you to the possible, perhaps likely, doom and gloom reports that could easily land on all of our door steps delivered directly from C-SPAN and alleged experts via the global authorities on the disease and those in the trenches fighting/losing to contain it

...and leave the conspiracy theories that have been circulating in the new media (even MSM) for you to investigate yourself if interested - lets just say that some articulate that it may now be clear what all of those plastic coffins (actually coffin liners) at those FEMA camps could be in preparation for.

    fema_burial-vaults.

Especially in lieu of the revision of Executive Order 13295 - origonaly ordered due to SARS on April 4 2004 - which was ammended on July 1 2014 by POTUS Obama, titled REVISED LIST OF QUARANTINABLE COMMUNICABLE DISEASES in which subsection (b) was replaced with the following:

"(b) Severe acute respiratory syndromes, which are diseases that are associated with fever and signs and symptoms of pneumonia or other respiratory illness, are capable of being transmitted from person to person, and that either are causing, or have the potential to cause, a pandemic, or, upon infection, are highly likely to cause mortality or serious morbidity if not properly controlled. This subsection does not apply to influenza."

but what is important here is what is revealed by those who have been in the trenches in Africa since March 2014

Particularly what Ken Isaacs, Vice President, Government Relations, Samaritan's Purse and Frank Glover M.D., Missionary, Serving in Mission shared which is

...alarmingly sobering - to say the least

Streamed live on Aug 7, 2014

The House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations holds a 2 p.m. hearing on the Ebola virus, which has killed more than 900 people, according to The Associated Press.

Witnesses include Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Ariel Pablos-Méndez, the assistant administrator for global health at the U.S. Agency for International Development, and representatives from the State Department, Samaritan's Purse and SIM.

These witnesses testified at a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee hearing on the threat of the Ebola virus. Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said the Ebola outbreak in West Africa could be stopped but would take time and meticulous attention to detail. Dr. Frieden also said he was confident there would be no large outbreak in the U.S. The subcommittee also heard from representatives of two missionary groups working in Africa, Samaritan’s Purse and Serving in Mission (SIM), that have had members contract Ebola

the above could be a sanitized (don't panic) release for perception management reasons once you hear what Ken Isaacs and Frank Glover have to say as they don't hold back the severity of what is really happening

The Live Stream is archived on C-SPAN HERE in which there is a tool just under the video that allows you to listen to each testimony you choose - but I recommend watching the whole thing through

but if you just want the cliff notes from the trenches, then just watch the youtube version below - and skip to the 2 hour mark

to get a better assessment of the seriousness of the global situation, I recommend this short article by Laurie Garrett on www.foreignpolicy.com (you may have to register, for free, allowing you access to a small number of articles per month) which is a must read due to her expertise alone

You Are Not Nearly Scared Enough About Ebola

Experimental drugs and airport screenings will do nothing to stop this plague. If Ebola hits Lagos, we're in real trouble.
BY Laurie Garrett AUGUST 14, 2014

    ebola_gloves_8-14.

Attention, World: You just don't get it.

You think there are magic bullets in some rich country's freezers that will instantly stop the relentless spread of the Ebola virus in West Africa? You think airport security guards in Los Angeles can look a traveler in the eyes and see infection, blocking that jet passenger's entry into La-la-land? You believe novelist Dan Brown's utterly absurd description of a World Health Organization that has a private C5-A military transport jet and disease SWAT team that can swoop into outbreaks, saving the world from contagion?

Wake up, fools. What's going on in West Africa now isn't Brown's silly Inferno scenario -- it's Steven Soderbergh's movie Contagion, though without a modicum of its high-tech capacity.

Last week, my brilliant Council on Foreign Relations colleague John Campbell, former U.S. ambassador to Nigeria, warned that spread of the virus inside Lagos -- which has a population of 22 million -- would instantly transform this situation into a worldwide crisis, thanks to the chaos, size, density, and mobility of not only that city but dozens of others in the enormous, oil-rich nation. Add to the Nigerian scenario civil war, national elections, Boko Haram terrorists, and a countrywide doctors' strike -- all of which are real and current -- and you have a scenario so overwrought and frightening that I could not have concocted it even when I advised screenwriter Scott Burns on his Contagion script.

Inside the United States, politicians, gadflies, and much of the media are focused on wildly experimental drugs and vaccines, and equally wild notions of "keeping the virus out" by barring travelers and "screening at airports."

Let's be clear: Absolutely no drug or vaccine has been proven effective against the Ebola virus in human beings. To date, only one person -- Dr. Kent Brantly -- has apparently recovered after receiving one of the three prominent putative drugs, and there is no proof that the drug was key to his improvement. None of the potential vaccines has even undergone Phase One safety trials in humans, though at least two are scheduled to enter that stage before December of this year. And Phase One is the swiftest, easiest part of new vaccine trials -- the two stages of clinical trials aimed at proving that vaccines actually work will be difficult, if not impossible, to ethically and safely execute. If one of the vaccines is ready to be used in Africa sometime in 2015, the measure will be executed without prior evidence that it can work, which in turn will require massive public education to ensure that people who receive the vaccination do not change their behaviors in ways that might put them in contact with Ebola -- because they mistakenly believe they are immune to the virus.

...there are already serious concerns by officials that Lagos may already be incubating Ebola as of this writing. Liberia's armed forces have reportedly been given orders to shoot people trying to illegally cross the border from neighbouring Sierra Leone while the dead are left in the streets to be quasi-guarded by police, The miniscule/pitiful health care systems in 4 countries has utterly collapsed. Everyone is afraid to seek medical attention for any reason...disbelief as well as paranioa has its grip on West Africa.

and it is now exponentially spreading and completely out of control

    on another note

I have not visited nor posted on Nexus for some time now, nor will I be anytime soon but for the sporadic compelling such as developing events like the ebola crisis

not due to disinterest, nor disillusionment, nor have I have abandoned Nexus, and no I am not suicidal, I remain very alive and looking forward to another exciting tomorrow and beyond

I am currently surrounded by people with all kinds of stories and fascinating perspectives that I would never had a chance to encounter until I set out on the adventure I am currently on

my family and I are as close as ever now, we laugh and play like we have not done in a very long time.

Life is challenging once again and extremely interesting.

I remember a quote from the movie Starman: You are at your very best when things are worst.

I myself have stated a number of times in my life that the harder life gets, the better you are doing, I still heartily agree and my hopes in the human spirit has been renewed.

I find myself no longer bored, no longer lethargic, and no longer living on my computer but in the real world again, and very busy

so if you do not hear from me for a while, I am well and happy, Nexus is in my thoughts almost daily

I have left Neverland (for a while) and like the adult Peter Pan finally realized - to live is the greatest adventure

I have learned from someone here very wise that to submit and serve in beauty is the greatest pleasure while to surrender is the empty reward of cowardliness known only to those who resign

    know that I am healed

    my dark night has ended

when you have nothing to lose, you have nothing to fear

I am having the time of my life

    until my next post

    au revoir

…yep… now the CDC is forecasting numbers like 1.4 million infected by end of Jan if interventions are not in place.

A worst case scenario warning yes, but they ARE using words like 'epidemic' and that this virus is likely to stick around for years.

    Heretic,
I know you prefer reporting on the situation rather than the why or the conspiracy angle (as do I), because we've gone down that familiar path for many, many years and there isn't much else to say. However, I thought that I would include some viewpoints from Jane Burgermeister (remember her anti-vaccine heroics during the bird flu and swine flu?)

    http://blog.susanaromeroweb.com/?p=11129&lang=en

    and from Alfred Webre

    http://exopolitics.blogs.com/ebolagate/

Both warn against the inevitable forced vaccination program. sheesh… if the virus doesn't get me, the vaccine will

    Heretic responds:

    by all means do so

the only reason I am not is like you said, it would be redundant, my online time is limited, I can't stream videos so I am missing a lot of chatter, and I am really just scanning headlines then reading the updates to avoid the recap portion of those articles

I have all kinds of ideas and to where it may go, or its purpose if engineered

fear distraction away from obvious middle east activities that are internationally illegal and pushing past constitutional boundaries in the US

ethnic cleansing of a resource rich continent

full spectrum dominance in the news cycles to overwhelm everyone and making them to want to change the channel or avoid thinking of it coming home, along with all the other news

    bioweapon gets out of lab

NWO endgame scenarios to finalize world GOV and population reduction

just plain ole money to big pharma (to the rescue of course) like how the swine flu pandemic was meant to play out perhaps - CDC owns the patent and NIH owns the vaccine sooo why not

etc etc - which one to pick though - there are so many and perhaps it is all of the above at once

I guess I am also in a state of astonishment that this is really happening - all of those people that will die and the stories of people dying on the steps of clinics already at capacity - it looks downright apocalyptic where this will end up going because it looks unstoppable unless it IS under some control we aren't being told about like DNA targeting - maybe it just makes me sick to think about too

anyone should feel free to post what they like on this thread

thanks man, I'll check out the link
