Myles Kenney & Dorothea "Dora Dolly" Briscoe - Kenney - Wilkie

They immigrated from Ireland in 1833
& settled in Simcoe County, Barrie, Ontario in Canada


She was first married in 1818 to James Wilkie
who died in 1825 at the age of 41, leaving her with 5 children.

She married her 2nd husband Myles Kenney in 1829
and they had 6 more children together.

Tragically in Aug 1838,
9 out of the 10 children all died in one single day
from mushroom poisoning.

It is said that their coffins were constructed
& set out on the Kenny's farm front lawn.

There was no Catholic cemetery nearby
(and, it was forbidden to bury Catholics
in other churches graveyards,
thus, the children were buried at the farm's lot line,
as, that was the custom at that time.

The daughter that did NOT die was: Henrietta Anne Wilkie
who had recently gotten married,
BUT sadly she died in 1847
at the age of 28 years.
