introducing the first invisible Human of Longford...

this video from yesterday afternoon in Killoe, with Cairn Hill

    peeping between the bushes
captured a natural phenomenon which is seldom seen...
    but once seen
    it is never forgotten...

    speaking to older,
    more knowledgeable neighbours
they called it ' will o' the wisp'...

one elderly lady remembered calling it
    ' sí gaoithe' ( fairy wind )...
when she was a child over 88 years ago...
...back then, she added that people used to bless themselves
when they saw it because they didn't know what it was...
    whether good or evil...
but it was always associated with the fairies...
for a family out saving hay who witnessed the phenomenon,
it provided chat and gossip for years afterwards...
the magical ,swirling dance of hay fired the imagination...
it was pure magic before their disbelieving eyes...
an other recalled hearing of an entire meadow
being lifted skywards in a spectacular, spinning spout...
with all the hay finally landing in a neighbour's meadow..
.imagine going to your neighbour and asking for hay back...
is it any wonder, our ancestors looked on in both awe and fear
as their hard work took flight before their eyes....
later last night, I was informed that the phenomenon
is caused ' by a swirling updraft on air under sunny conditions
during warm weather and is a sign of the warm, hot weather to continue

I prefer the Sí Gaoithe ( fairy wind ) explanation !

    enjoy the good weather..
and any invisible Human of Longford
    who may pass your path"
    Will o the Wisp.

I found this neat wildflower "fairy ring"
while out exploring north of Ridgecrest, California.
It almost looks like a wreath you could pick up
    and hang on your door.
