Imox is the spirit of rain, represented by snakes in the sky that hurry through space, causing downpour. This sign also governs coexistence with the beings that live in the water and favors communication with them, particularly dolphins, whales and crocodiles.

The fixed agricultural calendar begins on the day of Imox, and the appropriate ceremony for the advent of the corn harvest is also performed on Imox. Corn and beans (ixim) are the nutritional foundation of the Mayan world, and this day is used to prevent those crops from becoming diseased.

MEANING - Iq´ is the wind, the element that governs ideas and change. It is life and represents the renewal. It is a good day for performing ceremonies for the spirit of air and wind. The wind was born on this day, and so began life. It is the Heart of Sky representing the acts of divine beings on the ritual stage, giving power to life, Nim Kaqulja´, or the power of nature. Iq´ symbolizes the vital spirit, lightning, tempests, and air currents. This sign animates energy and represents the space inside our body.
It symbolizes the cleanliness and purity of glass. It is also the windows in Mayan temples. These served a dual purpose. The first was to determine what type of wind was blowing based on sound. The Trecena of Wisdom - Kan ~ Serpent ~ Chicchan

Celestial Life Force, Bringer of Rain, Sensual, Passionate, Primal Knowledge of Duality, Heart expansion through service to others.
To the Ancient Maya, Kan was the bringer of rain, symbolized by the Snake Dance or Rain Dance performed by many native cultures such as the Hopi in the Desert Southwest and the Toltec in Mexico. In Maya legend, there are Four Kans, Sky Serpents, who encircled the world and were responsible for guarding the four quarters of the world. When they spoke, thunder was heard which was followed by lightning and rain.
According to Kenneth Johnson in Jaguar Wisdom, “it is more accurate to speak of four aspects of a single deity than it is to speak of four deities. This four-in-one concept is a common theme among all the peoples of ancient Mesoamerica. The Four Kans are, in this sense, four aspects of the Sky Serpent who encircles the world – whose upper face looks toward Heaven and whose lower face forms the gateway to the Underworld. This Sky Serpent takes many forms; even the great civilizer Quetzalcoatl seems originally to have been an aspect of the Sky Serpent (as indicated by his name, Feathered Serpent).”
The image of a snake combined with a lightning bolt is found in ancient Anasazi petroglyphs representing lightning not only in the sky but also lightning in the body. This corresponds to the Maya concept of “blood lightning” and the Hindu concept of “Kundalini” energy running up the spine. Thus, Serpent Energy is a symbol of the life force that flows in the body and in the sky.
Kan energy connects our primal reptilian core to our spiritual aspirations. When we feel this energy, we are energized to connect and live in two realities, the material 3-D reality (everyday mundane) and the spiritual magical reality where all things are possible. Today, this seems to be very pertinent as we find ourselves living between two paradigms, the old and the new. The old being the material 3-D reality and the new being the next level of awareness that merges ethereal energies with the material plane.

Another representation of the Trecena is that of a creative wave beginning at 1 and ending at 13, with the numbers 6, 7 and 8 representing the crest of the wave. The crest could be interpreted as a strong influential energy, although the underlying influence on the Trecena would still rest in the beginning. This Trecena crests on 6 Tz’i’ ~ Dog, courage and faith to guide us on our spiritual journey; 7 B’atz’ ~ Monkey, artistic excellence to inspire and create our spiritual path; and 8 E’ ~ Road, our spiritual destiny or road of life.
