    Here's a series I captured on Sat. 5/18.
    I initially thought it was just another eagle battle
    but I had never seen two eagles lock talons before while battling,
    but since then I've learned it was not just another battle.
    This is what is known as the bald eagle death spiral.
    It's a mating ritual where by the two potential mates soar
    to a high altitude, lock talons, and then spiral and tumble towards the earth
    eventually disengaging when they get close to earth.
    It's a test to determine if the two potential mates are fit for each other
    and is usually done before they start building their nest together.
    I understand it is uncommon to witness this ritual
    so I feel very fortunate to have, let alone been lucky enough to have captured it.
    The lighting conditions weren't optimal and it was a bit of a reach
    for my lens but I hope you enjoy the content.
