AUSTIN, Texas, May 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A new study entitled "Mixed Borrelia burgdorferi and Helicobacter pylori Biofilms in Morgellons Disease Dermatological Specimens" revealed that mixed bacterial biofilms are present within Morgellons disease skin specimens. The study was published in the prestigious journal Healthcare (Basel) (https://www.mdpi.com/2227-9032/7/2/70), and it was performed by an international team of scientists including microbiologist Marianne Middelveen from Calgary, Canada, researchers Eva Sapi, Katherine R. Filush, Cheryl Bandoski, Rumanah S. Kasliwala and Anthony Melillo from University of New Haven, West Haven, Connecticut, USA, and internist Raphael B. Stricker from Union Square Medical Associates in San Francisco, CA, USA.
Morgellons disease is a mysterious skin condition that is associated with tick-borne infections, including Lyme disease. Patients with the condition display disfiguring lesions that contain strange multicolored filaments. The disease is often accompanied by fatigue, joint and muscle pain and neurological problems.
Biofilms are complex bacterial communities formed by microorganisms and protected by a slimy coating. The biofilms within Morgellons skin tissue contained Borrelia burgdorferi, the spiral-shaped bacterium that causes Lyme disease, and the common human pathogen Helicobacter pylori, which causes stomach ulcers. Mixed biofilm formation may play a role in the development of Morgellons pathology and may also provide an explanation as to why Morgellons disease is so difficult to treat.
"This paper provides further evidence for an infectious origin of Morgellons disease," says Cindy Casey-Holman, director of the Charles E. Holman Morgellons Disease Foundation (CEHMDF) of Austin, TX, which is dedicated to finding a cause and cure for the skin disease. The foundation provided funding for this study and previous research that points towards an infectious origin. "It proves yet again that patients suffering from Morgellons pathology are not delusional."
"Biofilms are involved in many chronic illnesses," explains Dr. Eva Sapi, who oversaw this research project conducted in her laboratory at the University of New Haven. "Biofilms are enclosed within a matrix protecting them from environmental threats such as the immune response and antibiotic treatment."


The biofilm matrix is composed of carbohydrates, proteins and other substances.
"We found interesting substances in Morgellons biofilms," states Kate Filush, a student who performed the experiments verifying the presence of biofilms. "Morgellons biofilms contain a gel called alginate and two proteins, amyloid and Tau, that are best known for being present in the brains of Alzheimer patients. The gel provides a protective coating, and the proteins likely provide structural support for the biofilm," explains Filush.
"Mixed bacterial biofilms are truly fascinating," exclaims Calgary-based microbiologist and lead author of the study, Marianne Middelveen. "The bacteria can behave in a cooperative manner, with each species providing a function that the other is lacking. A mixed infection can greatly enhance the pathology induced by biofilms."
Mixed infections in biofilm communities provide an explanation for why Morgellons disease is so difficult to diagnose and treat.
"To treat the disease one must first diagnose the underlying infection or infections," says Dr. Stricker, co-author of the study and a San Francisco internist who diagnoses and treats patients with the perplexing skin disease. "The Morgellons mystery is slowly yielding its secrets, one infectious agent at a time."

I am not pro in GB4000 but I wonder how far off are we when it comes to the GB design compared to the type of the machine scientists used to treat this patient?   I can't speak on this but I can tell you that I knocked out an Infection on my inner cheeks... (I attribute to some resistant strain of Yeast/Mold or something related) often referred to as "Burning Mouth Syndrome" - I was running different Auto Channels for Mold and Candida (Contact, Not MOPA) in RF Mode then when I re-ran those same Channels in Audio Mode it literally erased that Infection in SECONDS. It was incredible. Something so damn persistent and resistant for YEARS just literally disappeared. No Herx, No Reaction, just Gone... Could have been a Parasite but I really don't know. That's as close as I can relate to this story which is in itself very similar even though there was a different pathology.

      Natalia Dunaeva this is my question. How different our machine is from the one used in research? I wonder how come they were able to use it ( with design and specifications listed above) only once and be successful yet people use Rife for days, weeks, months. I worry about RF frequency strength and radiation and I wonder how could we be more specific and more successful.

      Aleksandra Eyring it really is about finding the cause and the right frequency and how much time on the machine. Once you get that dialed in, it can be easy. Working with people that have a lot of experience is extremely helpful.
