Glasgow Burgesses, 1573-1750: 384 According to the Ruthven Family Papers they were married in Eastwood Parish Church, although a record of this event cannot be found there. Ruthven Family Papers: 62 However, the marriage was booked on 23 May 1717, at Glasgow in Lanarkshire, Scotland. The marriage record reads as follows: "1717. May 23 Mr John Ruthven Marrion Peadie".       how do I find Land documents, court documents, or wills that make it clear that these two'JOHN RUTHVEN' guys are the same person. Churchwardens' accounts would work, if they made that clear, though they probably wouldn't, since if they are the same person, they were born in a different city than the one they got married in, let alone different parishes.
      So far, we have not found such documents.
      Neil has looked very hard for all the evidence he could find, and has not found them.
      It would be great if the marriage documents for the John Ruthven who married Marion Peadie said who his parents were, but they don't - so, any idea what to explore next ?

        You can get a copy of this marriage certificate if you go to Latter Day Saints research centre it may say who his parents are on the marriage certificate

    Here's my personal genealogy beginning with Leofwine, ca. AD 1000. The Viking invader apparently brought the name, Ruthven, from his original home, Roedven on the S. coast of what is now Norway (Lat: 62 37'27.05" Lon: 7 29'37.48" in Google Earth).
