    ODAH says:
the problem with watching the ebola crisis unfold ..is it still may be years before it becomes a major world epidemic ..

obama really didn't want to do anything in syria ..and he doesn't want the strikes to be effective in demolising isis..as it would go against his belief that there is a positive reason to use military force .

the black death continued to break out in England until.. the royal put all the undesireable books in one area and use buring part of london down in order to cover the destruction of the books.. it also server to destroy the pockets of rodents that carried the plague .

ebola spreads because from one person to another via bodily fluids .. and where it is spreading is the very place it can spread the fastest ..

what we will likely see in the next few years or sooner .. for international travel or any travel people be compelled to get blood tests in airports .. to check for pathogens or many other things .

i doubt there is a vacine for this ..from what i understand they had thought they had one a few months ago..but it proved ineffective .

and just why do all of these thing have to be man made.. it is not like the earth was good at creating these things .. it was actually much better at producing these and getting them out than we are today.

as for swine flue ... that was probably a lab experiment that got out ..and the vaccine for it was basically to make a bunch of money ..and to see how people would react to forced or the possibility of forced vaccination .

one of the things causing this to be much worse is that ebola and maleria have close to the same symptoms and maybe even another one like dengee .. and it is maleria season .. so as the medical system collapses .. Melria kills more people and it looks like ebola.

so sieria leon and the countries around it are primed like California is primed for massive forrest fires .

nothing too new on the ebola front lines but for awareness spreading, and the ever increasing numbers of infections and deaths in Africa, and a couple of new tent cities working like triage units and some new "camps" being built by those 3000 troops Obama sent.

Glaxo Smith Klein as a new vaccine out of Thailand: Thai Doctors Develop New Ebola Vaccine: Reports

So far, very few patients have been admitted to U.S. hospitals, one each in California, New York, and Georgia reporting symptoms similar to Ebola but test results in all cases have thus far shown negative for the virus. Now we have a new one:

Dallas hospital isolates possible Ebola patient

little info is being released - no clue what contact he/she has had with others or where/how this person could have possibly acquired the virus

they say that test results from the CDC won't be available next Tuesday which is bunk, they could know in hours if they chose to

but seriously...would they tell us in any case?

expect much more of the vague reports no matter what is really happening

Ebola case in Dallas confirmed by CDC, first diagnosis in U.S.
    Dallas Morning News

A patient at a Dallas hospital has tested positive for Ebola, the first case of the disease to be diagnosed in the United States, federal health officials announced Tuesday.

The patient was in isolation at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, which had announced a day earlier that the person’s symptoms and recent travel indicated a possible case of Ebola, the virus that has killed more than 3,000 people across West Africa and infected a handful of Americans who have traveled to that region.

The person, an adult who was not publicly identified, developed symptoms days after returning to Texas from Liberia and showed no symptoms on the plane, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden said the patient came to the U.S. to visit family and has been hospitalized since the weekend.

State health officials said no other cases are suspected in Texas.

President Barack Obama has been briefed on the Dallas Ebola case by Frieden, the White House said.
Specimens from the patient were tested by a state lab and confirmed by a separate test by the Centers for Disease Control, said Carrie Williams, spokeswoman for the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notified the media at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday that Dallas has the first diagnosed Ebola case in the nation.

Dallas County went through a day-long anxiety attack Tuesday, waiting to hear if the first Ebola diagnosis in the nation would happen here.

An unnamed patient at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas was placed in isolation while awaiting test results for the dreaded virus. Apparently, the patient had traveled recently to a West African country, where the disease is spreading, and later developed symptoms that suggested Ebola.

A blood specimen from the patient was sent to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, a testing process that can take 24 to 48 hours to confirm an Ebola infection -- or not.

Thompson: Associate of Dallas Ebola patient under close monitoring
    Marjorie Owens , WFAA 9:04 a.m. CDT October 1, 2014

DALLAS — Due to close contact with a patient diagnosed with the Ebola virus, a second person is under the close monitoring of health officials as a possible second patient, said the director of Dallas County's health department Wednesday morning in an interview with WFAA.

Zachary Thompson, the director of Dallas County Health and Human Services, says all those who've been in close contact with the diagnosed patient are being monitored as a precaution. However, Thompson pointed to one person in particular as a potential second case.

"Let me be real frank to the Dallas County residents, the fact that we have one confirmed case, there may be another case that is a close associate with this particular patient," he said in a Wednesday interview with WFAA. "... So this is real. There should be a concern, but it's contained to the specific family members and close friends at this moment."

The director continued to assure residents that the public isn't at risk as health officials have the virus contained.

aaaaannnd it just keeps getting worse and worse...

Ebola victim was originally SENT HOME from hospital with antibiotics before the deadly virus was diagnosed after he had mixed with other people for TWO DAYS

By Associated Press and Zoe Szathmary for MailOnline

    • A Dallas hospital initially mistook a man's case of the Ebola virus in a Texas hospital for something else and gave him antibiotics
    • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Dr. Tom Frieden said the patient left Liberia on Sept. 19, arrived the next day to visit family and started feeling ill four or five days later
    • The unidentified man was critically ill and has been in isolation at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital since Sunday, officials said
    • Medical officials said patient would not be given experimental treatment ZMapp because there is none of it left
    • Frieden said there was no risk to anyone on the airplane because the patient had no symptoms at the time of the flight
    • An Ebola virus epidemic has killed more than 3,000 people in West Africa

The man with the first case of Ebola diagnosed in the U.S. went to hospital feeling sick only to be given antibiotics and be sent home.

It was not until two days later that the man was admitted to the Dallas hospital and put in isolation, it has been reported.

It raises the frightening prospect that he was mixing freely with other people for a full two days while showing symptoms of the virus - the time when Ebola is most contagious.

The unidentified patient has been in isolation at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital since Sunday, officials said. The hospital has launched a review into the delay.

Scott Gordon, a reporter for KXAS, tweeted 'Hospital reviewing why patient wasn't properly diagnosed on Friday when he was evaluated and sent home. Dismissed with antibiotics.'

Officials have not disclosed his nationality but a statement from the city of Dallas said he was visiting relatives in the US after travelling from Liberia.

Dr. Edward Goodman, epidemiologist for Texas Health Presbyterian, said the hospital had a plan for handling Ebola should a suspected case emerge and was 'well prepared' to provide care.

After arriving in the U.S. on Sept. 20, the patient began to develop symptoms on Sept. 24 and initially sought care two days later, Frieden said. The patient was admitted to the hospital on Sept. 28, when Texas Health Presbyterian put him under strict isolation. Blood tests by Texas health officials and the CDC separately confirmed an Ebola diagnosis on Tuesday.

Asked how many people the patient may have had close contact with in that time period, Frieden said, 'I think a handful is the right characterization.'

well so far they are "monitoring" 12 people who had direct contact when they should be isolating them instead

they are now in the process of hunting down 100 other people who may have had direct contact

all those people are of course coming into direct contact with many other people...and so on

the 5 kids are being "advised" to stay home from school (4 different schools) - I suppose the adults are being "advised" to stay home from work and missing out on a paycheck - but something tells me there will be "mistakes" with all these moving parts required to move "just right" for this containment machine to work

they claim that unless you are presenting symptoms (fever, pains, vomiting, diarrhea) then you are not contagious

these claims are false and misleading - it is contagious through bodily fluids when you have the virus in your system, before during and after death, via coming into contact with those same boldly fluids - which includes sweat on the skin when you are only incubating ebola - what the hell do people think all the "protective gear" requests for healthcare workers in Africa is for? Why the hazmat suits if things are ok unless you are bleeding out of the eyes and mouth

if a kid touches an infected person on the skin, who may or may not be presenting, then touches their eye, mouth, nose or any open wound as benign as a removed hangnail, then they also have ebola - it is that contagious and the virus can live outside the body a minimum of 36 hours to a maximum of 45 days depending on the surface and it's environment

they appear to be in "don't panic" mode in trying to pacify the public to sustain social infrastructure - while at the same time creating fear as they sensationalize the possibilities - but not too far ahead of those possibilities - as if all you have to do once you catch it is go to the doctor and all will be ok

    until capacity constraints are reached

they are only now starting to talk about Louis (his girlfriend now under quarantine) who had been in intimate contact with Thomas who also has gone out and mingled with the general population - she had been taking care of him after he had presented symptoms bypassing the non-contagious incubation assertion

at this point I would be pleasantly surprised if this stalls and doesn't spread to others in Texas

no need for links anymore - they are now talking about this on the news more than they are ISIS so you can just turn the TV on

I suppose my most alarmist opinion would be the culling of the population and unifying the world against a common enemy

I have many others though - some not alarmist at all

I used to think that western nations, especially America, would be safer from culling because we are already so brainwashed and dependent on "the system", that is until I remember all of those guns America has

the worst case scenario I never thought about once it was loose in major population centers like in America is it being passed along via the money people use due to how long it lives outside the body

the only way to be safe is to burn it like they do sheets and the clothes of those who had been infected

I am also concerned about how easy it is for this virus to mutate - it never really had much of a chance to mutate before like it does now because it never had a chance to spread far between isolated villages in Africa, with 300 infections per strain being the cap - its recombination is very sloppy so mutation is likely which is why scientists expect mutation toward becoming airborne

for now it is almost as contagious as the flu - as if that were a comfort

UPDATE: Thomas Eric Duncan lied to airport screeners to get the hell out of Liberia - said he had no contact with an ebola patient - showing that the honor system doesn't work when it is a life or death situation and why mass quarantines don't work - it is seen as a death sentence

also I heard a question asked in a Dallas press conference to confirm that the CDC showed up at a school that one of these 5 children attend to snatch up one of the five children (I suppose) because another parents daughter reported that this is what happened at her school to her mother - then one reporter started screaming "you call this transparent?" as the news feed ended

looks like some panic is already taking hold

so the guy who lied to get back in the us .. exosed his entire family and slept on ever surface he could sleep on .. to almost make sure it got transmited to his family members .. anf this judge is in contact with the family without protocalls for personal safety or protecting the public..and the woman sent her kids to school when she was told not to ..

shit i retract my non afraid post from a few weeks ago..it almost looks like this is intentional... and americans might have a lot of germaphobes ..but we also have a majority of the world overly selfish elitist morons .who won't give a shit about anyone else .
a bigger factor in this is people who will get expose and intentionall infect others when they become symtomatic

yeah it is unreal now - too many what ifs to post any more

also from Breitbart a couple days ago:

Dallas Paramedic: We Weren’t Contacted After Working in Ebola Exposed Ambulance

    from the article:

Aklinski said he was going to a doctor on his own initiative to be tested for the Ebola virus. “This is definitely a concern and exposed workers have not been contacted or tested… like me,” he explained. “I had to call into control in Dallas at 8 pm and complain to get evaluated.”

“Three days after the fact,” an exasperated Aklinski stated, “I had to demand exposure testing and they are reporting following up with all the people in the ambulance??? Bull crap!!! They haven’t even followed up with the ten firefighters that were on duty Sunday.”

Aklinski went further in explaining the frustration he and most likely, other firefighters, are feeling. “How do you not test and contact the firefighters at the station on Sunday!!! Only the two medics and the intern on the ambulance? I was freaking in that ambulance hours later driving it!!! No one bothered to contact me about it?!!!”

He went on to say he has contacted other news outlets and they won’t report his side of the story. “They just go with the official reports,” Aklinski stated.
there is news story after news story - someone gets isolated for ebola like symptoms - it makes the news = they tend to all end up negative and then the news story is updated as a non-event

Nebraska - Massachusetts - New Jersey - Homeless guy in Dallas - Kansas City - Sarasota

first they publish every possible case - then the don't panic follow up

like the MSM has gone bipolar or something

I think they already screwed it up though - but don't want the real panic to set in

that all the hard work tracking folks down is just another dog and pony show while it spreads under their noses

    hope I am wrong

i am not worried about ebola .. here is the problem.. we have the most expensive government in the world..and no branch can do the job it exists to do ,,

the cdc is to wrapped up in dietary regulation..do do things like fight infectios diseases .. as there are a half a dozen new ones spreading in the Us .. as the cdc is worried about how much salt new york resteraunts put on the food .

what will happen if this becomes worse ..A there will be new systems put in ww to blood test international travelers for infectious diseases .. then the population will use social media to track.. comunicate and respond to this..as the government show an increasing level of incompetence .

This may be the nail that causes complet withdrawl of support for the government ..most people are distrusful as the government says dont worry but make things worse ..

An interview with Professor Peter Piot, one of the researchers who discovered and named the Ebola virus in the 70's :

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...-piot-outbreak

What is interesting is the level at which the virus has become so much more dangerous, obviously having mutated several times since its discovery in the 1970's. When the professor and his colleagues first examined it, they wore no protective clothing, not knowing obviously how lethal it was, it arrived from Africa to their laboratory in Antwerp in a thermos, two vials of blood, one broken inside slushing around with water and ice, fished out by the doctor just wearing protective gloves. At a later stage in their research, a vial containing virus material falls and smashes in the laboratory, coming into contact with one of the doctors, after disinfecting the lab luckily none involved were infected. And again at that time after doctors went to Zaire to study the virus and treat infected patients, they had protective suits yes, but didn't wear breathing gear, Professor Piot wore a pair of motorcycle goggles to cover his eyes!

Have we completely lost control of the epidemic?

This isn't just an epidemic any more. This is a humanitarian catastrophe. We don't just need care personnel, but also logistics experts, trucks, jeeps and foodstuffs. Such an epidemic can destabilise entire regions. I can only hope that we will be able to get it under control. I really never thought that it could get this bad.
